DAILY NUTRITIONAL FACTS

Holla my people!!!

I trust you have gotten over the kick out of our girls from the #FIFAWWC as I have.

Anyway, let’s move on.

So, it’s nutrition O’Clock 🕕 again. The weekend is past. Let’s pick up from where we dropped off on Friday.
Another nutrient that’s thought to have a positive effect on mental processes is magnesium.

Magnesium is involved in over 300 different chemical reactions in the body, including neurotransmitter synthesis.

It’s found in foods like leafy greens (vegetables ), nuts, seeds, and whole grains.
Studies have shown that people with low levels of magnesium are more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.

So, having covered some of the basics of how food affects the brain, we’ve touched on specific nutrients that have been linked to mental processes. Now let’s explore some specific foods that have been shown to have positive effects on mental health. I will mention just 3 today and then we pick up from there tomorrow.
BLUEBERRIES are packed with antioxidants, which have been linked to improved cognitive function and reduced risk of dementia.

I was trying to get the pictures for those that do not know what it looks like but my network is really poor right now.

Leafy greens like your Ugu, scent leaf, Waterleaf, Ewedu, Afang, and many others are rich in folate, which is thought to play a role in mental well-being.

And my Favourite😊. (please do not blame me for this😌)

DARK CHOCOLATE contains flavonoids, which have been associated with improved memory and mood.

And please, it’s not all this cost-effective chocolate I’m talking about. I’m referring to high-quality chocolate.

Let me dwell a bit here

To be considered high-quality chocolate, it must contain certain key ingredients.
First, it must be made with pure cocoa butter, rather than cheaper vegetable oils or fats.
In addition, quality chocolate should have a low sugar content, and should not contain any artificial colours or flavours.
Lastly, it should have a smooth and creamy texture and a rich chocolate flavour.

Good quality chocolates help also in memory. So, as a student, this should be one thing you should not lack while reading for your exams. I can attest to this.
